Overview

Twist and Burn by neWwave — An interactive fiction web platform that blends reading, audio, cinematic storytelling.

Description

Overview

Twist and Burn is a story-driven web application designed for serialized fiction. It allows users to experience each story through multiple formats — reading, listening, and watching — while making meaningful choices that shape how the story unfolds.

Unlike a traditional reading platform, Twist and Burn turns storytelling into an interactive experience. Readers do not simply move from one chapter to the next. At key moments, they are asked to make a permanent decision between “Twist” or “Burn,” creating a more personal and emotionally engaging journey.

Description

Twist and Burn was built around the idea that modern storytelling can be more immersive than a static reading experience. The platform brings together prose, audio narration, cinematic scenes, and decision-based progression in one connected system.

The core experience is what makes the platform stand out: each issue ends with a reader choice that is saved and carried forward. This transforms the platform from a content library into a personalized story environment, where the user’s decisions become part of how the narrative is experienced over time.

In addition to the interactive story experience, the platform also supports a broader digital content ecosystem. Readers can browse a growing story library, explore character profiles, save progress, manage subscriptions, unlock premium content, and enjoy offline reading and listening through supported plans.

The result is a storytelling platform that feels more dynamic, engaging, and tailored than a standard fiction website.

Our Role in Bringing Twist and Burn to Life

neWwave helped shape Twist and Burn into a polished digital storytelling platform by supporting the web application experience, user journey, content-access structure, subscription flow, and interactive story system. Our work focused on creating a seamless reader experience across story discovery, account access, progress saving, membership flow, and multimedia storytelling, while ensuring that the core choice-driven concept remained central to the platform experience.

What Makes This Project Special

The most distinctive part of Twist and Burn is its permanent choice-driven structure. Instead of offering a passive reading experience, the platform asks readers to make a lasting “Twist” or “Burn” decision at the end of each issue.

This creates a deeper emotional connection with the story and allows the platform to deliver a more personalized experience over time. Combined with the ability to read, listen, or watch the story, Twist and Burn becomes more than a fiction platform — it becomes an interactive entertainment experience.

Why This Project Matters to neWwave

Twist and Burn demonstrates neWwave’s ability to build digital products that go beyond standard content delivery.

This project combines storytelling, subscription logic, multimedia content, progress tracking, and interactive user decisions into one cohesive web experience. It shows how thoughtful product design can transform a familiar format — serialized fiction — into something more immersive, memorable, and emotionally engaging.

For neWwave, Twist and Burn represents the kind of platform we are proud to build: creative, experience-driven, scalable, and designed around a unique user journey.
